We encourage history students to take advantage of studying abroad, whether for a year, a semester, or a summer. Our students study in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, the Middle East... really, all over the world.
Some students choose to do research for history projects while they are abroad, and obtain some funding from our travel grant program for that purpose. Students are also able (depending on the specifics of the program) to earn advanced course hours which count toward their LAS residency requirement and the History Major while abroad.
Other reasons to study abroad include:
- Gaining intercultural literacy
- Exercising independence
- Foreign language development
- Experiencing a new academic culture
- Ability to network internationally
